Advanced OSDS Design Workshop

ADVANCED OSDS DESIGN WORKSHOP

YOU MUST BE A MOWPA MEMBER TO REGISTER FOR THIS COURSE

This three-day workshop was developed by the National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA) on behalf of MOWPA to train Environmental Health Specialists (Sanitarians), engineers, soil scientists, and other related professionals on how to properly design non-conventional soil absorption systems in the State of Maryland.  The primary areas of focus will be on the design of:

  • sand mounds;
  • at-grade mounds;
  • shallow low pressure pipe; and
  • drip dispersal.

The workshop will include an overview of how they work, how they are permitted in Maryland and complete design guidance for each type of system.  Attendees will work through specific design examples in class, and receive hands-on training on how to lay a system out in the field.

The workshop will take place over two-consecutive days, with the third and final day of training taking place approximately one week later.  Successful completion of the workshop will require attendees to complete the take-home design examples as well pass a final exam that will consist of designing a non-conventional OSDS on their own.

This class is being redeveloped.  Check back at a later date for more details and scheduling.
