MOWPA mission……
To promote and enhance the use of onsite wastewater treatment by providing a forum for education, development, and information transfer in order to create viable treatment processes, design, construction, operation, and maintenance capabilities within the industry
MOWPA is a 501 C(3) not-for-profit educational organization, chartered in September 2004 to provide the much-needed education and training programs for individuals and companies working in the Maryland septic and onsite industry. These vital programs are needed to ensure that individuals performing regulatory, design, installation, inspection and operations and maintenance and enforcement services are knowledgable and trained within industry standards and requirements.
Another core purpose of the organization is to represent member interests and to educate policy officials on legislation and regulatory issues. Currently, MOWPA is the only voice for professional practitioners in Maryland. Dues paid through the Maryland state association also include membership in NOWRA.
An Association working for you. . . . .
MOWPA Officers, its Board of Directors and committees, all work for the organization on a volunteer basis. Association Management Services are also provided to support MOWPA's education and training and legislative information programs.
MOWPA leaders meet the 2nd Monday of each Month at the Howard County Bureau of Utilities Building (Montgomery Road, Elkridge, MD). Meetings beging at 2:00 p.m. and are open to all members to attend. The Board's work is guided by the Association's Bylaws, its Strategic Plan and budget. Meeting topics focus address issues impacting industry members, and develop programs to further advance the professional standards through education and training.

The overall goal of the Association's work is to ensure that a presence exists in MD as the core technical resource about the beneficial use of onsite systems to support water quality goals and a sustainable water infrastructure. Association representatives also attend State legislative meetings on behalf of the professional, environmental and economic interests of industry members in the State of MD. Educational presentations are provided for legislators to become knowledgable about the onsite industry.
